AOSW is opening its doors at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, to give the community an opportunity to meet real people – who have had similar weight loss struggles – and learn how they have lost weight and continue to move forward in managing a healthy lifestyle.
Participants during the Monday evening discussion include Jonathan Court, Lois Maibach, Jim Musser, Haroldo Nunes and Loretta Raff.
“Losing weight and getting healthy is no small feat,” says Dave Speicher, AOSW supervisor. “In fact, you probably have no shortage of friends who are willing to advise you on everything from fad diets to exercise and everything in between. But it’s time to get real.”
According to USA Today, Jan. 17 was the date most Americans gave up on their weight loss resolutions mainly due to unrealistic expectations. That’s why Speicher and the staff at AOSW say it’s time to get serious.
During this informal session, led by Speicher and Matthew Newman, RDN, LSN, participants will be able to ask questions about the Healthy Lifestyles program. Speicher and Newman are ready and willing to share challenges and what they have learned from this program, including the healthy lifestyle tools to lose weight and manage a healthier lifestyle.
Panelists will share their challenges, speak about setbacks and tell attendees how the program helps them to continue moving forward.
“Our goals are to help you achieve your goals,” said Newman. “During the informal session, we will talk about tools and key tracking indicators for success.” The average weight loss of an individual in the program is between 10 to 20 pounds.
