On Friday, January 15th I had surgery at Aultman Orrville Hospital for the first time. I've been told that Dr. Suppan is a great surgeon, so I expect a wonderful recovery; however, nobody told me anything about your Surgery Unit.
I was impressed with the teamwork and professionalism of every member of your staff from Tina, the receptionist, to the nurse who made sure I was ready to go home. In between those two people were the intake nurse, Mary, who was able to answer every question I had, the very helpful therapist who adjusted my walker and crutches and taught me how to use them, and the nurses who made me feel comfortable as they prepared me for surgery.
Most notable, however, was the nurse-anesthesist, Jay Dyer. In my long life, I have had at least ten general anesthesia surgeries, both major and minor. My greatest anxiety has always been the insertion of the IV catheter. Jay not only deftly installed it with no discomfort, but did so in such a way that I barely had a mark from it. Additionally, I always have a difficult time recovering from the anesthesia, sometimes taking up to a week. This time, however I felt like I was waking up from a good night's sleep.
My husband and I were comfortable and well informed throughout the entire experience from pre-admission to discharge. I must say, you have a very effiecient, yet personable Surgery unit, which I think is the best-kept secret in Ohio. Thank you so much!

I can't begin to thank the staff for their concern, help and dedication to the well-being of their patients. Debra was my admitting nurse and she was great. The people in the Surgery Department were wonderful and Dianne, my recovery nurse, was truly excellent. The staff and doctors at Aultman Orrville are very professional, putting their patients comfort first. Thank you, especially Dianne!
