ORRVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 25, 2013) – Aultman Orrville Hospital will be offering the Safe Sitter course this summer under the direction of a new instructor. Registered nurse and new instructor Janice Kratzer, will hold the course on June 1, 2013 in the Aultman Orrville Community Room. Safe Sitters prepares young adolescents ages 11 and older to be safe, nurturing babysitters. Aultman Orrville has been a registered Safe Sitter teaching site since 2003.

The up-to-date curriculum provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques that prepare babysitters for emergencies; first aid, choking rescue and child CPR are covered in the course. Babysitters also receive instruction on age-appropriate care, preventing problem behavior and running a babysitting business.

To graduate from the Safe Sitters program, students must complete and pass a practical and written test. More than 500,000 adolescent babysitters have graduated from the program.

The cost of the course is $50, and the registration deadline is May 6, 2013. Call 330-684-4703 to register your son, daughter or your child’s babysitter.
