Aultman Orrville Graduates 14 Local Students from Safe Sitter Course

by User Not Found | Jun 27, 2013
Earlier this month, Aultman Orrville Hospital graduated 14 young teenagers from the nationally recognized Safe Sitter course. Safe Sitter prepares young adolescents ages 11 and older to be safe, nurturing babysitters. More than 500,000 adolescent babysitters have graduated from the program nationwide.

The curriculum at Aultman Orrville included hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques for emergencies. First aid, choking rescue and child CPR were covered in the course. In addition, students received instruction on age-appropriate care, preventing problem behavior and running a babysitting business. In order to graduate, the students passed a rigorous practical and written test that indicated their mastery of life and safety skills.

Janice Kratzer, registered nurse and Safe Sitters instructor, taught Safe Sitters to the group of Wayne County students.

Due to the course’s positive response, Aultman Orrville is pleased to offer Safe Sitter again on Saturday, August 10 in the Aultman Orrville Community Room. The cost is $50, and registration is required. Call Aultman Orrville Community Relations today to register your son or daughter for the course. Aultman Orrville has been a registered Safe Sitter teaching site since 2003.
