Wayne County Community Foundation and Aultman Orrville Announce Available George T. Dunlap Foundation Grants

Applications for grants from The George T. Dunlap Foundation are now being accepted to promote health education and wellness programs for the health benefit of the community.

Beginning in the mid-1990s, Dunlap Community Hospital and the Aultman Health Foundation worked together via the Independent Hospital Network to meet the health care needs of Orrville and surrounding communities. In January 2012, the two entities merged to form Aultman Orrville Hospital; giving patients increased access to high-quality specialty care and advanced services. As part of the agreement, The George T. Dunlap Community Foundation Fund was established at the Wayne County Community Foundation.

The decision was made to name the new fund the George T. Dunlap Community Foundation Fund to honor and preserve the Dunlap legacy. More than 60 years ago, Dunlap donated $600,000 to help found the hospital. The Aultman Orrville board made the decision to place the gift at the WCCF because of the foundation’s community leadership, expertise and personalized service.

With a $1.2 million gift from the Aultman Health Foundation, the fund strives to promote wellness and health education through grants and charitable activities in the service area of Aultman Orrville Hospital. Grant awards shall be distributed only to other 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, governments or religious groups.
